What is Share Your Hair?

During Fall and Winter, BYU female students can donate their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, who make wigs and donate them to women, free of charge, through the American Cancer Association. A stylist will cut and style your hair for you right here on campus! In the 2018 Winter Semester, we had 75 donors and 125 donations that contributed to 15 wigs!

For Fall 2018, we will have our event on October 24th and 25th from 10:00-1:00 both days!

In order to donate, hair must be at least 8 inches long.

Experiences

I'm currently a videographer for Y-Serve and I had the opportunity to film one of Share Your Hair's service week events. I worked with the ED and PDs to plan and be at the event, and it was an awesome experience. Those running the program are motivated, and everyone who comes to participate is incredibly generous! I met a girl who went from long hair to a pixie cut and the volunteer who was cutting her hair was not only talented, but also incredibly helpful along the way, helping her when she got nervous! It was so awesome to see them two get along and accomplish a single goal from two different sides.
