What is Youth Detention Center?

The Slate Canyon Youth Detention is a juvenile center for local youth. We currently provide reading tutors, sports trainers, and life skills class teachers to youth, ages 13 to 18.  Our volunteers are role models and friends to the youth.  Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and must receive a background check after their first visit.

Come and inspire youth at the Youth Detention Center!

We look forward to serving with you!

While talking to a young man in the detention center, I realized the impact our little service group was having on the lives of the kids. Not only were we friends and their mentors, but the BYU students seemed to be changed by the experience too. I love the Youth Detention Center!
