What is Project Uplift?
Volunteers in Project Uplift help to uplift the spirits of veterans, first responders, wounded heroes, and service members overseas. Volunteers do this through participating in activities such as writing uplifting letters, making useful emergency paracord bracelets, visiting war veterans at the Veterans' Home, and other activities or drives that assist our country's armed forces.
During a particularly hard semester, at BYU, I felt overwhelmed and self-consumed with my own personal agenda. I realized that I was miserable and the only way to get over myself was to turn outward. At this time, I think the spirit led me to Project Uplift. I love visiting the veterans. They have taught me so much about honor and courage. They are also a real crack up! I've learned in my experience with Project Uplift that there is so much more we can be doing to honor our troops and give back. Even if I only have one hour to serve, it always blesses me and the ones I am serving.
I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to spent time with the veterans in our community. My cousin is currently serving in the army and I have seen the incredible sacrifices that these men and women make! Project Uplift has helped me to remember and show my gratitude for all that my cousin and all those who serve our country have done! These men and women have taught me so much about love, honor and service. I’m eternally grateful for their service and the opportunity that I now have to serve them!
