Executive Director Application

DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director’s overarching responsibility is to help fulfill Y-Serve's mission and vision -

Mission: Our mission is to provide every student with a meaningful service opportunity following our Guiding Principles of Safety, Respect, Meaning, Revelation, Selflessness, and Reflection.

Vision: We seek to instill in the heart and mind a desire to give lifelong service.

Executive Directors are ultimately responsible for all operations and outcomes of their programs. In coordination with Program Directors, EDs fulfill all administrative duties and ensure that each volunteer and those being served are having a meaningful experience. The ED oversees all meetings and events within the program, while giving PDs and volunteers opportunities for leadership and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Weekly
• 3-5 hrs. total time commitment, including 1 hour in the Y-Serve office (outside of meetings)
• Program Meeting
• Respond within 48 hours to all communications

Monthly
• Meet with Service Council Member
• Meet with each Program Director
• Report statistics
• Update Master Guidebook

Semesterly
• Hold Program Reflection Meeting
• Attend Y-Serve Retreat/Summit
• Meet with Community Service Provider, if applicable
• Review/Propose Budget
• Create/Review Master Guidebook

Student leadership positions at BYU are reserved for full-time, matriculated students. (Part-time and FlexGE students are welcome to participate in all service programs, clubs, activities and events.) Will you be enrolled as a matriculated, full-time student during the time you are planning on being an Executive Director?
Do you have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and are you willing to maintain it?
Are you willing to commit to uphold the University's Honor Code and Dress and Grooming Standards?
Will you be available to serve in this capacity for Fall and Winter semesters?
Have you previously served in the capacity of Program Director?
Are you planning to take the "Learning through Service" Class (StDev 290)? (Optional)

On each of Y-Serve's program webpages there is contact information - the program's email address as well as the list of the leaders' names and some of their phone numbers. The public has access to the information, but the phone numbers are generally used by volunteers who text the leaders to get more information about how to get involved. Having your phone number on the webpage is not a requirement to be a program leader.
I authorize the verification of my academic and Honor Code status for the purpose of completing Y-Serve's volunteer application.
