Community Health
What is Community Health?
Volunteers serve in a variety of locations and positions with local health programs. Maliheh Free Clinic, Meals on Wheels, and Welcome Baby are the organizations currently partnered with Community Health. Volunteering with these programs offers a great way for students to learn more about healthcare and make a difference through service.
Maliheh Free Clinic Volunteer Description:
The Maliheh Free Clinic is looking for Spanish Interpreters, Patient Technicians, Resources, and Office Volunteers. The Maliheh Free Clinic is located in South Salt Lake City and offers free healthcare to uninsured Utahns who fall below 200% of the poverty line. Volunteering at Maliheh is perfect for those interested in entering the healthcare field.
Volunteer Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to attend two 4-hour shifts monthly and are required to commit to 4 months minimum. Maliheh can accommodate back-to-back shifts to save on driving. After 10 shifts, volunteers can become Trainers and potentially join the Leadership Team.
Additionally, Maliheh is currently running a trial program of virtual 2-hour Spanish Interpreting shifts. If you are interested in this, please contact a Maliheh Program Director through the "Contact Us" tab.
Meals on Wheels Volunteer Description:
Meals on Wheels is a low-commitment, easy way to serve by delivering food to homebound seniors.
Volunteer Commitment: Volunteers must serve a minimum of 1 hr/week and have their own mode of transportation. Hours of operation are 11 AM to 1 PM.
Welcome Baby Volunteer Description:
Welcome Baby is looking for volunteers to meet virtually with new mothers to help educate them and provide support during the transition into motherhood.
